Choral Instructor, 2016 & 2017
Evelyn Grieger holds degrees from the University of Lethbridge, the University of Alberta and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Grieger has taught at a number of post-secondary institutions in Alberta and Illinois. Her vast conducting experience includes many choirs at these institutions, as well as a number of community and church choirs.
In the mid-1990s, Dr. Grieger was the Choral Artist-in-Residence with the Saskatchewan Choral Federation, where she acted as a choral resource and presented a variety of workshops for school choirs, church choirs, community choirs, and their conductors. While working with the Saskatchewan Choral Federation, she developed and taught the pilot year of a Choral Directors Training Course for conductors who had not received formal choral conducting training. In the mid-2000s, she served a 2-year term on the Board of Directors for the Alberta Choral Federation.
In addition to being the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Edmonton, she teaches undergraduate conducting at The King’s University. This year she has been busy filling in as conductor to The King’s University Concert Choir and Community Choir. Evelyn also keeps busy presenting choral workshops with all kinds of choirs (community, church, school) and guest conducting in and around Edmonton and beyond. A current interest is identifying and gathering together church choirs from the Edmonton area for workshops, collaboration, and encouragement.
